Sermon Series on Colossians
Dear COAH,
These days it is getting harder and harder to spot pictures and videos generated by AI. Recently I got caught scrolling through dog adoption shorts on YouTube, where little kids were adopting dogs from the shelter. It was so heartwarming, until I noticed the AI tag. I had to scroll through to see how many of them were AI-generated or enhanced, and it was a large number of them. There were some real videos mixed in, which made it more difficult to spot the fake.
To identify AI-generated videos, you need to pay close attention for inconsistencies in physics, unnatural textures, and unusual background details. Generative AI often struggles with maintaining coherence over time, so looking for red flags like objects morphing or disappearing, unnatural “glossy” skin, and warped body parts. Video experts find it easier to identify AI videos because they know what to look for.
This Sunday, we will start a new sermon series on Colossians, and Paul wrote to the church in Colossae to fortify it against false teachers who might try to impose strict rules about eating and drinking and religious festivals. Paul does this by showing the superiority of Christ over all human philosophies and traditions. It is said that studying genuine currency is considered the most effective way to detect counterfeit bills. Why Paul does this by teaching and directing the Colossians back to Christ and his Gospel. We are definitely living in a time where there are many false ideas and beliefs that are deceiving so many people. Let us turn to Colossians the next few months, so that we can see how we are living righteously and following Christ as the Head of the Church.
In Christ,
Pastor Kyu
