Clean Window
This week, we had our windows professionally cleaned for the first time since we moved into our house. Two young men were scootering around the neighbourhood canvassing if people wanted their windows washed. I knew that our windows were dirty and in need of a good clean. So they came by, and I was more than happy to say yes. Some of my family members were skeptical because they were on scooters when they came by.
On the day of the scheduled clean, they were a no-show due to the weather, but the next day they rescheduled and came in the afternoon in their truck with a trailer to clean our windows. They were courteous, quick, and thorough, and our windows were crystal clean. We knew our windows were dirty, but we didn’t know how dirty they were until they were cleaned. Janey & Zoe commented, “We can see out our windows,” a bit of an exaggeration, but wow, what a difference before and after.
In many ways, sin is like that; we get used to sin in our lives. We get used to looking out the dirty window; sin has a way to obscure our outlook on life, how we perceive things. All of us need to have our sins washed away by the blood of Christ; we do need to come daily to Christ to have our sins forgiven and for him to cleanse us, so that we can clearly see God and his work.
