Trying New Things

Have you tried Dua Lipa’s viral spicy, tangy Diet Coke? It is a combination of Diet Coke with pickle juice and jalapeño juice. It is a surprising combination that is crispy and refreshing. Or have you tried watermelon with mustard? It was something a TikTok user @yayayayummy posted that went viral when Lizzo tried it herself.

These were two things I tried this week and to my surprise, I enjoyed both of them. Sometimes you need to try something new, and at times it can surprise you.

I don’t see myself as an adventurous person, and I like routines; I think them comfortable and pleasant. I think things are predictable. But there are moments when we need to set away from our comfort to try something new.

Isaiah 43:18–19 (ESV)

18“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.

19Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

In Isaiah 43:18-19, we are reminded that God is constantly working to bring about new things in our lives and the world. While it can be frightening, as it leads us into the unknown and uncertainty, it also requires us to trust in God. It encourages us not to hold onto the past, embrace the present, and anticipate God’s future plans for us.

Is there something new God is encouraging you to try this summer? Let us be open to new challenges or doors of opportunity God is opening for us.

Blessings,

Pastor Kyu
