First Pastoral Letter

It has been a blessing to serve at Young Nak for almost 19 years now. I first started as a youth intern pastor for 4 years and then spending almost 15 years as a children’s pastor. As I look back, there have been many joys and sorrows. The joy of serving with an amazing group of teachers (throughout the years), deacons, deaconesses and to see the children grow in the Lord to adulthood and leadership. I have also had the joy and honour to perform the marriages of some of them. There have been some sorrows as well, as I have seen children grow up in the church, only to go wayward and leave the church. I still pray for them from time to time, and hope that they will return to the Lord. Throughout the joys and sorrows, the Lord has graciously reminded me of Colossians 1:28-29, where the apostle Paul writes,

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully m ature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.”

This passage reveals the goal and source of wisdom and strength in which all of us should strive for. To wrestle with the strength that God gives us to be more Christ-like and to struggle with others to be more Christ-like as well.

Continuing with this passage in mind, I start a new chapter here at Young Nak as an associate Pastor in COAH (focusing on Emerge [age 23-34], local missions, welcoming and other duties). I look forward to what God has in store in serving with pastors Kyu, Tim, the elders, deacons, and everyone in this capacity as an associate COAH pastor. I ask for your prayers that we may proclaim, admonish and teach with the wisdom and strength given through Christ, so that we may present our members fully mature in Christ. All of this for the glory of God.

Blessings,

Pastor Edgar
